How Companies Use Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn To Hire And Fire.


Last month the FTC gave its approval to a new start-up that runs social media background checks on potential employees. The firm, Social Intelligence, can scan through your Facebook updates, photos, videos and groups, plus anything you’ve contributed on Twitter, LinkedIn, and even YouTube.

It’s not a free for all – they’re looking for specific ‘red flag’ criteria, such as racist remarks or signs of illegal activity, as well as positive behavioural examples, like charity work. They can search back as far as seven years.  Read more by Shea Bennett here.
